Joan M. Bassett (nee Molanphy), born on December 15, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025 in Port Washington, New York surrounded by her family. She was 96.
Joan was the beloved daughter of Francis and Margaret Molanphy and sister to Thomas Molanphy. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Edwin P. Bassett, with whom she shared a life of love and partnership.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Edwin F. (Karen), Margaret Tiarks (Thomas), Thomas, Virginia Vola (Lou) and Daniel (AnnMarie); her grandchildren: Tom Tiarks (Alli), Lauren Tiarks, Katie Tiarks, Quinn Bassett, Chris Vola and Jessica Bassett; her many ?cousin? nieces and nephews; as well as so many others that she welcomed into her home as family.
Her life was marked by devotion ? to her faith, to her family, and to those around her. Having played so many roles in the lives of so many people ? daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, teacher, tutor, confidant, counselor, partner-in-crime, friend ? her warmth, humor and kindness will live on in all of us. She will be terribly missed and joyfully remembered.
