Thelma J. Bass
Thelma J. Bass, 77, passed peacefully September 20, 2010 at Cypress Glen East. She was blessed to have with her at her last earthly moment her dear friend Virginia Van Randen.
Thelma was born to William Luther and Veta Mae (Nichols) Morton on March 10, 1933 in Etoile, TX. She went to school in San Augustine, TX and Lutcher Stark in Orange, TX. She later graduated from Lamar College with her LVN. She worked many years as a nurse. In fact, she was the Director of Nurses of the former Park Central Nursing Home which is now Cypress Glen East.
Thelma is survived by her children and their families, William Donald Minchew and wife Marsha, Pat Junot and husband Jerry, and Michael Minchew and Cindy; grandchildren, Beth Jones and husband Tommy, Brent Minchew and Maci, Lanny Goins and Brooke Junot; great-grandchild Kyler Jones and a new great-grandchild due in February.
Beth and Tommy's angel, Colby, awaits her in heaven. She was also preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred; brothers Buddy and Bill Morton. Thelma leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends to cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home Saturday, September 25, 2010, Dr. Rick Erwin officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County.
