Barbara Riccio, 76, passed away Monday, April 5, 2004 from cancer at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday April 9, 2004 at Westover Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Waukee Cemetery. Barbara was born in Waukee and lived in the Waukee/Des Moines area all of her life. She was a home health care worker in the Des Moines area. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Ben Bass; one granddaughter, Jennifer Jones; two brothers, Lewis and Jack Meusburger; and one sister, Midge Bunting. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Jim) Jones of Pontiac, IL; three sons, Gene Bass of Ankeny, John (Diane) Bass and Larry (Cindy) Bass, both of Des Moines; long time companion, Dominic Riccio; three stepsons, Richard Riccio of San Diego, CA, Glenn (Denise) Riccio of Winter Park, FL, and Scott (Nighi) Riccio of San Diego, CA; one stepdaughter, Nancy (Keith) Shafer of San Diego, CA; three sisters, Mary Crise of Des Moines, Delores Brown of Waukee and Christina Schore of Dawson; one brother, George Meusburger of Maxwell; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.
Visitation begins after 3 p.m. Thursday at Westover Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
