Bass, 73, of 3357 Galberry Road, a native of Southampton County and the widow of Justen Spencer Bass, died Friday in a hospital. She was a retired sales clerk and was a member of Indiana United Methodist Church, Indiana United Methodist Women and Daughters of America. Survivors include a brother, Mark D. Brett of Chesapeake; and two aunts, Virgie Smucker of Ahoskie, N.C., and Susie Walker of Portsmouth. A funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in Loving & Gay Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. William E. Kube. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
