Margaret E. Bass
MADISON - Margaret E. Bass, age 87, passed away on Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at Meriter Hospital, Madison. She was born on Jan. 26, 1917, in Eau Claire, the daughter of Charles and Andrina (Bakken) Spader. Margaret was united in marriage to Raymond Heath and he preceded her in death. She then married Clifford Bass, and he also preceded her in death. Mrs. Bass was a longtime resident of Madison. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Madison. Margaret was employed in housekeeping at Madison General Hospital (Meriter) for more than 21 years and prior to that worked in housekeeping at Rayovac. She volunteered at Central Wisconsin Center for the Disabled for more than 15 years as a foster grandmother. Margaret is survived by her children, including, Diane Johnson, Barbara Heath, Charles (Nettie) Heath, Richard Heath, all of Madison, Susan (Shorty) Sherrick of LaFarge, and Debra (Edward) Franklin of Madison; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Smail; and other relatives and friends. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles Spader, Donald Spader and Edward Spader; her sisters, Marion Smail and Charlotte Niehus; and a grandson, David Johnson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at 11 a.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison, with the Rev. Mary Pharmer officiating. Burial to be held in Highland Memory Gardens, Cottage Grove. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service time.
