- Celebrates 72nd Anniversary
Mr. John W. Bassett on Saturday last celebrated the seventy-second anniversary of his birth by entertaining at dinner his eight children and a number of his grandchildren. Mr. Bassett's children are Mesdames George H. Twilley, of Salem; Herbert Goslin, of LInkwood; Hampton LeCompete and W.R. Storr, of this city; Messrs. W.A., Leonard E. and R.H. Bassett, of Cambridge; Mr. John W. Bassett, Jr. of Salem. All were present to grace the happy occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. Bassett were married about fifty-six years ago. They lived for many years in Bucktown district, where Mr. Bassett engaged in farming, in which he was quite successful. They have made their home in this city for the past eight years.
Mrs. Bassett was before her marriage Miss Elizabeth Ellen Harding, of Madison. Mr. Bassett was a native of Lakes district
