Agnes Vines Bassett
Was state Department of Social Services caseworker
Agnes Vines Bassett, 79, of Westland, Mich., and formerly of Erie,
died Sunday, May 23, 1999, in the Saline, Mich., Community Hospital.
She was born in Munhall, Jan. 17, 1920, daughter of the late
William J. and Delia Mullins Vines.
She married her husband during World War II and they moved to
Fargo, N.D., where she lived until 1961. She then moved to Erie where
she worked for Catholic Social Services and later as a caseworker for
the Pennsylvania Department of Social Services. She was active in
theater and performed in many Erie plays.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Bassett; two
sisters, Virginia Fischer and Betty Mussetter; and two brothers,
William and John Vines.
She is survived by a daughter, Jane Bassett Millett of Westland,
Mich.; three sisters, Sister Brenda Marie Vines, SSJ and Louise
Forquer, both of Erie, and Grace O'Rourke of Pittsburgh; a grandson,
Luke Millett; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West Ninth and
Liberty streets, today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a
service there Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at St. Andrew
Catholic Church at 10:00.
Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
